Andrew Joy

Vice Principal and Head of Secondary
Andrew-Joy

BA (Hons), PGCE

I started teaching in 1994 and have held senior leadership roles in schools for over 20 years. My teaching career has taken me to London, Papua New Guinea, Togo, Gabon and China. I first joined BISS Puxi in 2007 and am currently in the second year of my third appointment at the school.

In my role as Head of Secondary, I have overall responsibility for the students, teachers and programmes in the Secondary School. I also have a whole school role as Vice Principal which encompasses areas such as teacher recruitment, policy and health and safety. I am also a teacher of Mathematics. In my leadership role, the moments that I most enjoy are when I can support colleagues and students when they have exciting ideas to provide opportunities for learning. I also get a lot of pleasure being in the Mathematics classroom and sharing my love of the subject.
