We are thrilled to share the exciting details of our recent camping and hiking Adventurous Journey for The Duke of Edinburgh International Award! Our students embarked on a practice trip to Dongshan in Suzhou, braving the elements and conquering challenges with unwavering determination.
Despite the cold, windy and wet weather, our students met bright and early at 6:00 am on Thursday 29 February, ready to take on the adventure ahead. Over the course of two days, they hiked a total of 21 kilometres, navigating through hills, valleys, tea plantations and enchanting labyrinth-like villages.
We couldn't be prouder of the resilience and hard work displayed by our students throughout the journey. They faced every obstacle with courage and perseverance, embodying the true spirit of teamwork and determination.
As night fell, the students gathered for hot chocolates and marshmallows to warm their spirits. Despite the challenging conditions, their enthusiasm and camaraderie shone brightly, creating unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.
On Friday 1 March, our students returned safely, their hearts filled with a newfound sense of adventure and accomplishment. This practice trip has not only prepared them for the qualifying journey at the end of March but has also instilled in them a deep appreciation for nature and the value of teamwork.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our students for their hard work.
As a community, we are shaping resilient, adventurous, and determined young individuals ready to take on the world!
Here's to many more exciting adventures ahead!
