Senior students at the British International School Shanghai, Puxi Campus once again shine in the IB Diploma examinations.
The British International School Shanghai Puxi Campus has a very strong academic reputation based on its ability to help students produce consistently high level results through globally regarded exams validated by world-leading organisations.
As we move into the school’s thirteenth year we are delighted and proud to report that, once again, the school’s graduating class has achieved outstanding results. All our Year 13 students take International Baccalaureate Diploma examinations in their final year - recognised as the most prestigious world-wide pre-university award.
The graduating class of 2017 achieved an average Diploma score of over 34 points, compared with a global average of 30 points. Jenny Tang scored a perfect score of 45 out of 45, Lucile Perrot achieved 44 and another six students gained scores of 40 or more. This means that a total of 13% of the cohort achieved marks of 40 points or better – more than double the global average of 5%.
Principal Dr Neil Hopkin commented on the results, “We are all delighted with the outstanding results that our students have achieved yet again this year in the IB Diploma programme. I have always been impressed by those who set high standards for themselves, but even more impressed by people like our students and staff who maintain these standards of attainment over an extended period of time. It is a good opportunity now for our students to reflect upon the individual journeys that they have made so far - it is wonderful to see students achieve at all levels and to secure their places on university courses around the world.
These results are a testament to BISS Puxi’s modern research based approach to teaching and learning, from which all our students benefit, and, as a result, our students are well prepared to move on to study a variety of academic disciplines at prestigious universities across the world including Oxford, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Hong Kong, Imperial, LSE and King’s College London.

The AmCham Shanghai Art & Culture competition theme this year is “Sprout,” which is a metaphor for spring, revival, and vitality. AmCham encouraged children aged 18 and under to express their ideas through different forms of art, be it a painting, sculpture, photo, short video, design product, or an art installation.
