Sports Friday: Week of Oct. 5 This week, our boys soccer teams dominated!

Girls Volleyball

Middle School

This week, junior varsity suffered a loss while the varsity team took home a win. The junior varsity team worked hard and made a lot of corrections but still need to work on moving quickly for the first pass and effectively using their setters. We’ll be focusing more on these items in practice. The varsity team once again played another close game with Ancona winning the first set and BISC taking the second. In the third, we served superbly and had some fantastic powerful hits to finish the game with a win.

Boys Soccer

Middle School

We had excellent results against Catherine Cook School (CCS). BISC were up 3-0 up very early in the game, thanks in part to Emre’s dazzling hat-trick. CCS then managed to get themselves into the game with a spell of possession and many shots at goal. Nick made some important saves, and then Chris scored, making it 4-0. From there, we never slipped up.

We played Near North Montessori (NNM), and it proved to be a close match. We took an early three-goal lead with Emre, C.J. and Jack getting on the scoresheet. However, NNM made some changes and with a few errors by BISC, NNM found a way back into the game, scoring two goals in quick succession. With the game close and the critical next goal looming, the ref awarded BISC with a penalty kick for a foul on Emre. Chris stepped up and slotted home to make it 4-2. Just when we thought the drama was over, NNM scored late to make the last few minutes nail biting! BISC won 4-3.

Both teams battled early on in the game against Sylvester (SHS), but BISC took the lead with Emre scoring again, adding to his tally for the season. Next up was Jack to make it two goals for BISC with a well-timed shot. Chris then scored two in quick succession. Emiliano battled hard all game and got his reward with a brave challenge with the keeper. Then, Chris then got his third goal of the game and his second hat trick of the season with a bullet header at the front post.
