Our Year 1 Outstanding Owls have enjoyed learning and rehearsing the songs for their class play, Go Fish!
Year 6 have been given a unique opportunity to become involved in an urban wildlife project organized by Lincoln Park Zoo. This week during an assembly, the students carried out a hands on activity with pelts and skeletons of local mammals. Over the coming weeks students in Year 6 will learn how to use a motion-triggered camera to monitor the mammals that visit the school campus around the clock. They will also use track plates to capture inked track prints of urban wildlife in the area. Under the guidance of the zoo educator, students in Year 6 will identify the mammals in the camera trap photos and inked tracks from the track plate.
Over the past few weeks in Year 2 Spanish, students have been learning colors and fruits in preparation for reading 'La oruga muy hambrienta' (The Hungry Caterpillar). Vocabulary has been learned through fun interactive games, songs and short stories. Students also made their own mini-books, which will be up on display very soon.
Hit for six! In PE, Year 3 have started their new topic of Games for Understanding: Striking and Fielding. This week they have been learning how to use a cricket bat to strike a stationary ball into space.
In Dance this week Reception have continued with their tap dance lessons. This week we worked on traveling steps across the floor. Lena is practicing her heel toes across the floor.
