Math and Art have been intertwined for a long time, but as a cross-curricula theme, it is sadly missing from the math curriculum when looking through math textbooks. Year 10 took an opportunity over the break to research and make a Rangoli design, which uses some of the symmetry concepts of shape. The rangoli represents the happiness, positivity and liveliness of a household, and is intended to welcome Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and good luck. Vir took the opportunity to create his Rangoli using the traditional technique of using household items to create both a colorful and textured design, using rice flour. Luciana used the symbology of the peacock, representing good luck and prosperity to create her design. Both are beautiful!
