THE BIS CHARLOTTE MIDDLE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

At our Middle School in Charlotte, North Carolina, students in Years 7-10 (equivalent to Grades 6-9 in the US)  follow a bespoke Middle School program that combines the English National Curriculum with our project-based curriculum, Design, Think, Learn. The English National Curriculum offers deep exploration within specific subject areas, while the DTL curriculum connects these subjects to foster skills and knowledge that empower students to apply what they learn in real-world scenarios.

OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

In Middle School, known as Lower Secondary School at BIS Charlotte, we offer a comprehensive program that combines the English National Curriculum with our project-based curriculum, Design, Think, Learn (DTL). This well-rounded approach allows students to explore a diverse range of subjects while developing essential skills in critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, and social awareness.

The English National Curriculum forms the foundation of a rigorous program of study at our Middle School in Charlotte, NC. It encourages students to delve deeply into the concepts, processes, and skills of each subject, providing a thorough and engaging academic experience.

 

Building on these foundational skills and concepts, the DTL curriculum enables students to make meaningful connections across subjects through collaborative, engaging, and project-based lessons. This approach encourages students to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts, deepening their understanding and fostering critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.

A DYNAMIC MIDDLE SCHOOL EDUCATION

Middle School is a pivotal stage in a student’s development, bridging the gap between childhood and adolescence. INTENTIONAL START
Your student will start each day in their mixed-age form tutor group with other middle school students, where they engage in activities like spelling competitions, organizing their schedules, reviewing current events, and exploring new vocabulary. This time with their form tutor helps set a positive tone for the day, fostering teamwork and personal growth.
