From 8th to 10th February 2019, six students, Jiwoo, Jaeyoung, Jaeeun, Inwoo, Hyunsoo, and Hyeokjun from Y11, represented BISB in the ISMTF Junior Maths Competition held in Vienna.
On the day we arrived in Vienna, we had time to prepare for the next day. On the second day, we took an individual and team competition. On the last day, we did the Sunday Chase which was an activity searching for hints in different locations in Vienna to maths questions. It was a great opportunity for us to meet students from different parts of the world including the Middle East, Eastern Europe and even Africa. As a result of our hard work, we won the 1st place for team competition and 3 of our students were in the top 15 for the individual round. After this meaningful experience, we were able to find math more interesting. We hope to participate in the next competition with more preparation and support from the school to achieve good results as this year.

I would just like to add that this is an incredible accomplishment to achieve such outstanding results at a competition with over 220 students from 40 schools, and I cannot be more excited for these students. They should be very proud of their achievement. Congratulations on a well-deserved 1st place trophy, and also to Jaeyoung and Inwoo on their 14th place finish in the individual round and to Jiwoo on her 2nd place finish in the individuals and her team’s 3rd place finish in the Sunday Chase!
