Year 12 Assembly with Dr Michal Mlynar

This morning we were very fortunate to be able to welcome Dr. Michal Mlynar to our School to present an assembly to Year 12 students. Dr. Mlynar has just been appointed as Slovakia’s next Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Previousl, he has held a number of other high profile positions such as Slovakia’s Ambassador to Kenya.

In a wide-ranging talk lasting an hour that was described as “inspirational” by one of our students, Dr. Mlynar outlined the work of the UN and gave them the opportunity to ask questions.  He spoke about the priorities for the United Nations in the world today and the challenges faced in meeting them. With our partnership with UNICEF to work on the Sustainable Development Goals, it was an excellent opportunity for our students to enhance their own understanding of the roles they can play in building a better future.

We are extremely grateful to Dr. Mlynar for making time in his schedule to meet with our students and share his experiences with them.
