BIS HCMC Graduates of 2024 achieve remarkable IBDP results outperforming all global averages

Congratulations Class of 2024!

We are incredibly proud to announce that our class of 2024, with a cohort of 102 students all taking the IB Diploma, have achieved outstanding IBDP results, significantly outperforming all IBDP Global averages. Once again, the hard work, commitment, skills, and attitude of our students has been recognised with stunning academic results that place them among the very best worldwide. These results now provide our students with an astounding choice of some of the top universities worldwide.

With a truly impressive average point score of 36.1, our graduates achieved significantly higher than the global average of 30.3 points. In fact this reflects a point score difference of almost 6 points higher than the global average, once again continuing this trend at BIS HCMC. This truly reflects the high consistency in learning across all our subject areas and the high quality of teaching provision we are able to provide.

Well over a quarter of our students (28.4%) achieved an outstanding 40 points or more, an astonishing achievement given the global average is well below 10%. This year, 1 of our students achieved a perfect score of 45, falling in the top 1% worldwide, and 16 students achieved high scores of 42-44 points.

This year 14.7% of our graduating students were awarded the IB Bilingual Diploma in English and Vietnamese, Korean or Spanish. This is an increase from 13.1% in 2023 highlighting our true global community and the skills our students gain to become fluent in multiple languages.

Behind these truly impressive results are 102 delightful students experiencing their own IBDP personalised and challenging pathways to success. Through their subject choices, their extended essay topics their CAS projects, leadership opportunities and their desire to take on other incredible opportunities, they are now able to open doors to a whole world of possibilities for ongoing success.

Number of students sitting the IB Diploma: 102
Average IB Diploma points score: 36.1 points (world average: 30.3 points)
Top score achieved: 45 points achieved by 1 student
High scores achieved: 42 - 44 points achieved by 16 students
Students achieving 40 points and above: 28.4% (achieved by 29 students)
Average subject score: 5.65 (world average: 4.85)
Students awarded the full IB Diploma: 97.1% (world average: 80%)
Students awarded the bilingual diploma: 14.7%

These results are the culmination of not only the last two years of the IB Diploma Programme but their entire education to date, with some of our graduates starting with us in Early Years Foundation Stages. It’s a key milestone as they complete their school careers and take their first steps at the world’s best universities. With hundreds of offers received from top 100 universities, we are eagerly anticipating the final university and subject choices of the class of 2024 over the coming days and weeks.

“Our 2024 graduates have excelled with this remarkable set of IBDP results and we are immensely proud of every one of them. They have been a very special group of people, who are a credit to themselves, their families and to the school. They have worked incredibly hard with determination and integrity, showing great perseverance and support for each other in achieving these excellent outcomes. A great deal of credit must go also to their parents and to our staff for guiding them carefully, and with great thought, during their time at BIS HCMC. My sincere congratulations to the class of 2024!”

Congratulations to our graduating class of 2024 who are embarking on the next chapter of their educational journey, at some of the top universities across the globe. From Harvard University and UCLA in the USA, University of Cambridge and Imperial College London in the UK, Korea University and Seoul National University in South Korea to National University of Singapore, The University of Sydney, University of Toronto and University of Amsterdam, our students are off to the best of the best! Not to mention other top Universities in Australia and Korea as students are currently applying and receiving offers for a February 2025 start at universities including University of Melbourne, University of New South Wales and Yonsei University.

Remarkable IGCSE results achieved by BIS HCMC students across all subjects

We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 class of 2024, for their impressive IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) results. This incredible cohort of 155 students, our largest IGCSE class in the history of the school, have significantly surpassed UK and international averages and were awarded 97% of all grades at A*-C. An incredible 62% of all grades awarded were at A*-A.

Celebrating the journey to graduation 2024

On Saturday 18th May, 102 students, split into two groups for two ceremonies, made their way to the Park Hyatt in District 1. Over at least 14 years this venue has witnessed thousands of BIS students graduate. Following in the footsteps of their predecessors, our Year 13s prepared to join the outstanding alumni of BIS HCMC.
