Educational decisions at BIS are based on three things; research, experience and data and feedback. We use these on a whole school level to inform our strategic planning process, and on a personal level in the classroom when determining the nexts steps for children.
On Wednesday and Thursday this week, we held parent teacher student conferences (PTSCs) where teachers were able to go into more detail about the progress the children had made during Virtual School. The meetings also provided an opportunity for children and parents to feedback to the teacher about their experiences whilst online. It is positive to know that the overwhelming majority of comments reflected the great work our teachers have been doing over the past few months. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend - it was great to see such a high turnout from parents.
An effective home school partnership is based on communication, and the dialogue between parents and teachers should be ongoing. PTSCs provide a good focal point for discussion, but if you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher at any time. Your feedback will help strengthen the learning pathway for your child.
Your feedback is so essential for whole school matters. Our strategic plan is not fixed; one thing the pandemic has taught us is the importance of agility in school leadership. We have had to adjust our priorities according to the current circumstances. Moving forward, we need your feedback to help us to adjust our priorities for the ‘new normal’.

2021- 2022 Parent Satisfaction Survey
We are looking forward to celebrating Tet in the week beginning 24th January. Celebrations will include the online Tet Fair and a special Tet assembly. Children will be able to collect Tet bags full of exciting resources when they visit their classes next week. If your child is unable to attend the visit, Tet bags can be collected from the front of the Early Years and Infant Campus between 8am and 4pm on Friday 21st January.
We are looking forward to having children come and visit the school next week. The purpose of these visits is to collect their uniforms and belongings, meet their teachers in person and have an orientation with regards to routines, health and safety guidelines for the classroom, playground and canteen.
In order to ensure that the visits are as safe as possible, all children must have taken a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) prior to coming to school. The test should be taken no earlier than the day before their visit to school. We will not require the children to show proof of these tests. We are working on the basis of trust and the shared responsibility that we all have to keep our BIS community safe. Thank you for your support in this.
For families that have arrived recently from overseas, please note that vaccinated children may come to school 5 full days after their arrival in the country, having taken the required PCR tests and RAT tests. Unvaccinated children can return to school 9 days after their arrival in the country, having taken the required PCR tests and RAT tests. If this affects your visit to campus next week, we will arrange another day for you to come to the school.
For parents who may need to exchange uniforms next week at the uniform shop, please ensure that you have the Covid PC App on your phone so you can show the guards your green QR code upon entry to the campus. Masks must be worn at all times and we ask that you adhere to the guidelines laid out at school. A reminder, uniforms must still have the tags on if you want to exchange.

Once again it was great to see many of you when you came to collect SPLAT and Busy Learning resources earlier this week. The home resources have been a great success over the past months, and we hope that with the good news this week, that the Tet Bag distribution will be the last one.
