One BIS HCMC parent Todd Gilmore is taking part in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii later this month to raise money for Newborns Vietnam. Will his story inspire you to get involved with the BIS HCMC Ironman entry in 2019? Let's find out...
“I have been a resident of HCMC for 15 years. I currently have 2 children at the school and one who just moved away after 11 years. Background (the short story) - I went from a 92 kg overweight office worker, to a 5 year exercise habit that lead to a healthy lighter individual to a 9 year triathlon habit turned endurance coach (Ironman University Certified). The Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona Hawaii will be my 12th Ironman. Every year at an Ironman, I put my hard training work on show to raise money for Newborns Vietnam." - Todd Gilmore, BIS parent
Worldwide too many newborns continue to die. In 2015, neonatal mortality accounted for three quarters of all infant deaths in Vietnam and more than half of mortality in under 5 years. Newborns Vietnam work to train nurses and doctors in newborn care. The provision of lifesaving equipment is largely funded by men and women from all walks of life taking on incredible sports challenges just like Todd.
