Year 4 Community Partnership with Nguyen Hien School
This month 4V, 4N, 4H and 4C have met up with students from Nguyen Hien school, a government school near Cantavil in An Phu. The exchange program involves our students hosting Nguyen Hien students twice and visiting Nguyen Hien twice. It enables children to interact with others from different backgrounds and so supports our mission of students becoming 'global citizens learning together'.

It is an interesting experience for students to visit other schools and see how they operate. The programme is mutually beneficial in developing students' communication and leadership skills. Sometimes our students find it difficult to interact with students in other classes or year groups even within our own school. Many have felt nervous about the partnership but have then felt relieved and proud that they were able to support their partners and join in the activities at Nguyen Hien.
Despite the language barrier, friendships have been formed. Students who do not speak Vietnamese have managed to communicate using gestures and drawing pictures. Nguyen Hien students have been supporting our students with maths lessons. Our students have led activities relating to our IPC topic of 'Fashion' and have collaborated closely with our visitors to design creative outfits and hats.
The partnership has been successful in that students from both schools have supported each other and overcome challenges that have arisen. We hope our partnership can continue and look forward to learning more from each other in our final session next week.
