Year 1 and 2 EAL Lesson Updates

Our EAL team update us on the energetic activities our Year 1 and 2 children have been getting up to in this term's EAL lessons. From bossy verbs, adjectives and time connectives, the children have been learning an awful lot since the start of term including how to make slime!

In Year 1 EAL, we have been working energetically during Term 1. We have been using different adjectives to describe how something looks and feels, we have thought about words to talk about colour, size, texture, temperature and many more and we are also learning how to say and write number sentences. Memorising and retelling the story of the 3 Little Pigs needed a lot of effort but we did it! 

There was great team work in pairs to create our own version of ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ and we came up with fantastic adjectives to describe our animal. You can listen to and watch our stories on the EAL blog.

We also had lots of fun following and giving instructions on how to make slime! We learnt about how important it is to use time connectives and bossy verbs to make our instructions clear and concise. You can also make slime at home by following the instructions on the EAL blog.

Year 2 EAL have also had a very busy and enjoyable term so far. We not only learnt about many different acts at the circus, but we got to see some of them live in action! We used this new vocabulary to talk about what we saw and talked about how we felt.

We also created our own version of ‘The Papaya That Spoke’ and could retell the story using time connectives and actions. We explored many different adjectives to describe appearance and character, and used these words to make our writing more descriptive about our wolf.
