By experiencing a variety of rides ‘up close’ the children develop a greater understanding of the mechanisms involved, how the rides are constructed and also the themes and marketing strategies involved.
TuTu and Mina continue the story…
On Wednesday, Year 6 went to Dam Sen for our entry point to the IPC topic ‘Fairgrounds’. It is an amazing and superb place and we thoroughly enjoyed all of the rides – except for the haunted castle. A few of our favourites were the bumper cars, the ‘Illusion Ride’ which is one which spins you round, the dragon rollercoaster and the hot air balloon ride. For this ride you get in the hot air balloon and spin the black wheel in the centre to turn the car while it goes up and down. Most of our friends were a bit dizzy and ate their lunch very slowly after being spun round for most of the morning. Tutu was NOT dizzy at all and ate her lunch before anyone else (except for the teachers and teaching assistants). Before going back to school, we were able to enjoy drinks and ice cream. It was a fabulous trip and has provided us with some excellent ideas for our own fairground rides!

Le Van Tam Park
On Tuesday Year 1 visited Le Van Tam Park as an exciting entry point to their IPC topic ‘Flowers and insects’. They were amazed at all the creepy crawlies they discovered. Fluttering butterflies, buzzing bees and wiggly worms were among some of the interesting creatures they found!
