On Wednesday 28th March 2018, our student-gymnasts represented BIS HCMC in the annual BIS Invitational Gymnastics competition. There were over 50 competitors from BIS, BVIS and ISHCMC performing in both floor and vault routines, levels ranging from 1-4.
On 24th March, 14 students and 3 teachers visited the Go Vap Orphanage in Ky Quang Pagoda. We had a memorable time colouring, talking, playing football, cuddling and making masks with the children.
The instinctive reaction, of a teacher on lunchtime duty in the canteen, upon seeing a Year 6 child skipping, is to remind them of their behavioural responsibilities. However, when that child happens to be a Year 6 girl called Kathy, whose skipping is inspired by the barely containable pride of one who has just achieved a great success on behalf of the school, the correct reaction is to understand and smile.
Wow! It has been a whole year since Language in Focus was launched at BIS Primary. We have already learnt about Polish, German, Malay, Thai and now Korean. It has been so much fun exploring lots of different cultures.
There was confusion in Year 2 this week as the classroom chairs went on strike due to the fact that they didn’t think the children were treating them very well! The children soon realised their mistakes and wrote letters back to the chairs to get them to return to the classrooms so the children could continue to use them! At the beginning of March, twelve BIS students travelled from Ho Chi Minh City to Manila, Philippines to compete in the 2018 South East Asian Mathematics Competition (SEAMC). This competition embodies the spirit of communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and cultural competence through the attendance of a diverse range of schools from various countries.
