Year 12 Geographers, Biologists and Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) students had the excellent opportunity to consolidate their classroom learning about coastal systems and ecology on their recent field trip to Con Dao.
BIS HCMC are visited by a true ‘global citizen’ who has an exhilarating story of determination and perseverance to share with our Year 5 and 6 students.
When beginning a new topic we focus on the ‘knowledge’ element of the International Primary Curriculum. Doing a ‘knowledge harvest’ means that we can respond to children’s ideas and misconceptions accurately. By finding out what children already know, we can identify next steps. The ‘Entry Point’ is always an engaging and memorable kinesthetic experience in which children are immersed in a new topic.
It only seems like yesterday that all the children were walking through the school gate on the first day of the year and now we have started term three and there are only 7 weeks left of school!
On Thursday 11th April a wonderful event happened that not only bought all of our parents together from each campus, but also raised money for an important long term BIS community partner.
Despite the fact that we have had an extremely busy term, all the teachers, teaching assistants and children put in 100% effort to contribute to and create the first ever Year 3 Art Gallery.
Aroma, Evexia, Elysian Vietnam and Sepia were competing against eight other teams from BVIS, the European International School (EIS) and ABC International School and each was required to set up a stall to showcase their product.
After weeks of planning, preparation and trial lessons with Year 5, our Year 9 students had the opportunity to teach their science lessons to Year 6 age students from Tran Quoc Toan (TQT) school.
On Saturday the 16th of March, 35 BIS HCMC students and staff embarked on their community trip to Ky Quang Pagoda located in the outskirts of Go Vap district. We were welcomed warmly and had a really memorable time doing crafting activities, chatting and dancing with the children.
