At the beginning of March, twelve BIS students travelled from Ho Chi Minh City to Manila, Philippines to compete in the 2018 South East Asian Mathematics Competition (SEAMC). This term, Ms Archer, Ms Kerr and myself had the pleasure of taking the Year 12 IB geographers on a fieldwork collection adventure deep into the Dalat countryside. On this adventure the students were able to collect huge amounts of river data for their Internal Assessment and also experience a ‘Geomystery tour’ which offered a different perspective into the impacts of flood plain modification around Dalat. This aims to develop the way in which the students think critically and reflect upon the interrelationships between people and their environment.

Last week, the Global Goals Club here at BIS HCMC held a Global Challenge Week to advocate and raise awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with particular focus on Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption).
United Nations International School Model United Nations (UNISMUN) is a 3 day, annual conference hosted by UNIS Hanoi. With 18 different international schools from all over South-East Asia participating, there were over 300 international students at the event, including 18 students representing BIS HCMC.
The BIS HCMC U14B Boys Football team headed across Ho Chi Minh City to AmIS in District 7 for the City Championships last Thursday, leaving the championships with the second place trophy!

Saturday 3rd February saw over 350 swimmers from 8 different schools compete in the two BIS HCMC swimming pools in a day of high excitement, gritty determination and maximum performance from all who took part.

After our shortlisting in 2017 for our Community Service Projects we were delighted to once again find out we were shortlisted for the International Impact Award for our uniform upcycling project “One More”.
On Saturday 27th January, a group of our extremely talented athletes competed in the SISAC Athletics City Championships. This competition, held at SSIS invites local schools in Ho Chi Minh City to compete in a range of track and field events. After their success in the U15 FOBISIA Games in Term 1, our students continued to show the BIS HCMC spirit of ambition and determination by winning 4 out of the 6 group divisions!
Student-led club Greenr Minds has initiated the Upcycling House Competition at BIS HCMC, Secondary Campus in the hopes of creating new and useful products out of old school uniforms.
For this week's 'Meet the Teacher' our Year 12 students, Jamie and Ji Min speak to College and University Guidance Counsellor, Ms Halliwell. Ms Halliwell joined BIS HCMC in 2017 after working in international admissions and recruitment at the University of Manchester.

The student-led club Green Minds has established e-waste collection bins around all BIS HCMC campuses from which collected electronics will be recycled.
