On 25th November, 12 BIS HCMC students embarked on their Community trip to Ky Quang 2 Pagoda Orphanage in the outskirts of Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City.
This year the FOBISIA Games took place in Phuket, Thailand and covered a range of sports including Football, Basketball, Swimming and Athletics. Each and every one of our students used their skills of perseverance, determination and ambition to bring home an unbelievable total of 5 trophies, 47 gold medals, 27 silver medals and 33 bronze medals as well as a host of memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. The Patterson/Sutton Duo came to perform at all three of our campuses on Thursday 23rd November 2017. They played to the whole school and as well as hearing their fantastic cello and guitar playing they also answered some of the questions our Primary school children had thought of in their music lessons as well providing masterclasses for our Secondary students.
Next week, we are encouraging all students to break with bad habits and ensure they eat a healthy breakfast every morning. A ‘5-day breakfast-selfie challenge’ is upon us, with prizes to be won. Perhaps the biggest prize of all being a week of energy-fueled learning.
This month 4V, 4N, 4H and 4C have met up with students from Nguyen Hien school, a government school near Cantavil in An Phu. The exchange program involves our students hosting Nguyen Hien students twice and visiting Nguyen Hien twice. It enables children to interact with others from different backgrounds and so supports our mission of students becoming 'global citizens learning together'.

The 20th annual SEOMUN (Seoul Model United Nations) conference took place between the 9th and the 12th of November 2017. Twenty seven students from BIS HCMC travelled to Seoul for 3 days of competitive debate and discussion on some of the world’s most pressing issues ranging from global warming to religious extremism.
As part of our community commitment, Year 5 have invited the students from Phan Huy Ich School (run by Poussières de Vie) to An Phu Primary to provide for them the opportunity to play the games we created in Maths.
This week our Year 9 students took part in the first stage of the FOBISIA online international Design and Technology competition, where our students have been asked to design and create a promotional gift for visitors to the school.
The Community Project for Year 8 involves visiting Thao Dien School for Disabled Children during their ILS lesson. This year, each year 8 class will be visiting Thao Dien twice to do the different activities that they have prepared.
Our EAL team update us on the energetic activities our Year 1 and 2 children have been getting up to in this term's EAL lessons. From bossy verbs, adjectives and time connectives, the children have been learning an awful lot since the start of term including how to make slime!
On Sunday the 5th of November, 6 international schools in Ho Chi Minh City, including 70 musicians from BIS HCMC came together to perform at the annual charity fundraising event; Saimuse.
We are excited to announce that on Thursday 23rd November our students will be visited by Juilliard Alumni Guitar and Cello Duo Dr. Kimberley Patterson and Dr. Patrick Sutton! The duo will be performing for both our Primary and Secondary school students before holding a live question and answer session.
15 students from BIS HCMC have received an Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award to celebrate their exceptional achievement in the 2017 Summer IGCSE series, with 2 students achieving the highest standard mark in the world for Mathematics.
This is a wonderful whole school community event connecting students from Year 5, 6 & 7 and our community partner students who we work closely with throughout the year.
This month staff received training from Educational Psychologist Angie Wigford on how to help children develop Emotional Resilience. She shared with us the importance of looking after the mental health of our children and giving them strategies to cope with issues that arise in everyday life.
The Geography Department held their annual photography competition earlier than usual this year in order to link up with the Nord Anglia Education Young Photographer of the Year contest.
