Tricia shared invaluable insights into the science of learning, empowering educators to better equip students with essential skills for lifelong success. With a diverse group of 9 delegates from schools across Vietnam and 6 of our own Secondary teachers, the session was a rich exchange of ideas and strategies.
One of the key highlights was Tricia's exploration of 'spaced practice' - a powerful technique that fosters effective learning by spreading out revision sessions over time. This approach stands in stark contrast to last-minute cramming, offering students the opportunity to reinforce their understanding gradually and significantly improve retention. Understanding concepts like the 'forgetting curve' (Ebbinghaus, 1885), Tricia emphasised the importance of revisiting information to solidify learning and enhance long-term memory.
We're thrilled to have had such a dynamic and insightful session and we're excited to see and hear the positive impact it will have on our teaching practices and, ultimately, student learning outcomes, across Vietnam. Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming workshops and initiatives aimed at elevating education for all!
