Our typhoon appeal efforts for Northern Vietnam

In the wake of Typhoon Yagi, which caused severe damage in northern Vietnam, BIS Hanoi partnered with the British International School HCMC to launch a joint Typhoon Relief Appeal.

Throughout mid-September, both schools held cash collections and donation drives for essential food items and hygiene products. The outpouring of generosity and the community-driven spirit of our parents, students, and staff was truly inspiring.

The collected cash was quickly converted into essential goods, with the first batch of supplies arriving at BIS Hanoi in early October. Our staff and students dedicated countless hours to meticulously checking, sorting, and packing these items. Thanks to the immense support from our school community, we successfully prepared 7 tons of supplies for those in need.

Due to extreme weather and unexpected landslides, the delivery process was delayed by nearly a week. However, as soon as conditions improved, our dedicated support staff worked tirelessly to load the supplies onto trucks, and on October 10th, the goods were transported to schools in Lao Cai.

All items arrived safely at Den Thang Secondary School in Bat Xat, Lao Cai. Our trusted community partner, Humanitarian Services for Children of Vietnam (HSCV), will oversee the distribution of these supplies to various schools in the region.

The second batch of goods will support affected families in Hanoi and Hai Phong. Stay tuned for updates on our social media channels.
