On Monday, BIS Mental Health Awareness Week kicked off with a Mindful Walk session led by Mr Greenwood, our school social-emotional counsellor. At Break time, our staff, students and parents walked together around our beautiful campus. Walking is hugely beneficial to our health and also a great way to integrate mindfulness into our daily life. Mr Greenwoord also provided tips on how to be present and relax your mind and body.
On Wednesday, Mr. Greenwood, along with Year 12 Mental Health Prefects and the Student Wellbeing Representatives, delivered a workshop to provide parents with insightful information on improving wellbeing. The session was a great success as we welcomed many parents joined us.
Throughout the week, the Wellbeing committee distributed lovely positive affirmation notes to all staff to remind us of the importance of positive thinking and self-empowerment. It was a fantastic effort to promote a positive mental attitude and improve mental fitness. Ms. Macdonald and Ms. Peter also led a meditation and a yoga session to further foster wellbeing among our staff.
On Thursday, the school gathered for an Open Mic Night and watched a number of outstanding performances by members of our community from students to teachers to administrative staff. Finally, the BIS Mental Health Awareness Week concluded with a wear-what-you-like Friday. All students and staff had the chance to express themselves through their clothes (while also respecting others), and a wide range of unique personalities were on display.
