Happy World Children’s Day 2020!
Friday the 20th November is World Children's Day, where across the world we recognise the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
As usual, to celebrate World Children's Day at BIS Hanoi, we will ask all members of our school community to dress in blue, the colour of UNICEF, and today our school is filled with blue!
During the day, there will be special Primary and Secondary assemblies, children taking over important roles from adults and lots of sharing and reflection on childhood. There is a World Children's Day Fundraiser, organized by our UNICEF student ambassadors, which happens in the Reception area from November 20 - 26. Profits will be distributed proportionally between the global goals budget and donations to local charities aimed at protecting children’s rights. Go and support the booth during break and lunch.
We are also asking for donations of soap, clothes, shoes, toiletries and books that will be donated to families who have suffered because of the floods in central Vietnam. Let's get donating for this worthy cause!
