The safety and welfare of our children are of paramount importance to us, and it is the duty of the whole community to ensure a secure environment for them at all times. I kindly request your cooperation in adhering to safe driving practices when commuting to drop off or pick up your children. I understand that the area surrounding the school can be busy during peak hours, and I appreciate your patience during these times. I also understand that the road system is not as well designed and fluid as it could be. We are working with the authorities to see if we can improve on this.
In the meantime, to ensure the safety of everyone, please consider the following guidelines:
- Adhere to speed limits: Please observe and respect the speed limits in the vicinity of the school. Slowing down allows for better response time and reduces the risk of accidents.
- Practice patience and courtesy: Show kindness and consideration to fellow drivers and pedestrians. Use your indicators to signal your intentions and allow others to cross safely.
- Follow designated drop-off and pick-up areas: Utilise the designated zones provided by the school for drop-off and pick-up. Avoid double parking or stopping in no-parking zones, as this can obstruct the flow of traffic and compromise the safety of our children.
- Avoid distractions: Ensure that your full attention is on the road while driving. Avoid distractions such as using mobile phones or engaging in activities that may divert your focus from safe driving.
- Ensure to occupy a designated parking bay before children exit the vehicle.
It is also worth bearing in mind that some of our community may be new to the UAE or have recently acquired their driver's licenses, such as our Year 13 students. It is important to remember that they are still learning and gaining experience on the roads. As a community, we can support them by extending our understanding and showing patience while sharing the roads with them.
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation in upholding our shared values and prioritising the safety and welfare of our children.
Yours sincerely,
Alan Cocker
