Costume support Bugsy Malone

We are very excited to be heading into the final weeks of rehearsals, the months of preparation are almost complete, but we are looking for a little help from parents in the final weeks with regards to costumes.

Mrs. Hancock and the Costume CCA Team have been working hard since September to design and create some of the costumes for the dance sequences of the show. However, if you are nimble with a sewing machine and have a little extra time, we would appreciate some support with the sewing of a few garments. Mrs. Hancock has made up packs that simply need to be sewn together; these can be taken away and completed in your own time, then returned. If you can help with this, please drop Mrs. Hancock an email Alyson.hancock@bisad.ae

In addition to the above, we are always on the lookout for costumes. If you have any of the following in the back of your wardrobe that you would be willing to donate to our Costume Department, please let us know. The production is set in the 1920’s, please see attached collages above for reference and note that we can make amendments to dresses etc and that the list/images are not exhaustive. A Decade of Dance at BIS Abu Dhabi

In 2014 Mrs. Lowe arrived to teach at the British International School Abu Dhabi, excited to work with the Physical Education Department to implement and embed Dance within both the curriculum and the CCA programme. Schemes of work were created for FS1 to Year 9 and all PE teachers received professional development training to understand the fundamentals of Dance, to discover the importance of Dance and how movement can be creative and powerful.

BIS Abu Dhabi World Scholars go to Baku!

From the 10th – 16th June, our team of World Scholars attended the Baku Global Round, after successfully qualifying at our in-school round back in April. Our Scholars ranged from Year 6 to Year 10 and competed in teams of three with the hope of qualifying for the next stage.

Empowering Youth: Our Journey to the NAE UNICEF Summit in Houston

Last week, Mrs. Stanier, our Head of Humanities, had the pleasure of accompanying three of our amazing students: Tia and Renad from Year 12, and Turkan from Year 10, to Houston, Texas, to take part in the NAE UNICEF summit. We were thrilled to be hosted by one of our Nord Anglia schools, The Village School in Houston, the first Child-Friendly City in the US recognised by UNICEF. The Village School is a boarding school, so the students got to experience what life was like as a boarding student there for the week.
