On 16th of March, BIS Abu Dhabi was a proud co-host of the BSME Swimming Championships 2023. It was a wonderful event with 22 schools in total from the Middle East and almost 500 students participating.
67 BIS Abu Dhabi students from Year 3 - Year 13 entered the competition with many of them swimming in multiple individual as well as team races.
A huge congratulations to the whole team with special mentions to Darcey (Year 8), Mark (Year 9), Adham (Year 10), Samsara (Year 11), James (Year 11), Karim (Year 11), Sohee (Year 12) and Kaelab (Year 12), for winning individual medals. Several of our relay teams also ended on the podium.
We would like to acknowledge the support of our student Sports leaders and several parents who volunteered to help run the event. A big THANK YOU, for doing an amazing job!
Student Leaders were particularly recognised for how they carried out their duties. This was noticed by teachers from other schools and reported back to BIS Abu Dhabi staff. The students are a real credit to our school.
We very much look forward to next year’s championships.
In 2014 Mrs. Lowe arrived to teach at the British International School Abu Dhabi, excited to work with the Physical Education Department to implement and embed Dance within both the curriculum and the CCA programme. Schemes of work were created for FS1 to Year 9 and all PE teachers received professional development training to understand the fundamentals of Dance, to discover the importance of Dance and how movement can be creative and powerful.
Last week, Mrs. Stanier, our Head of Humanities, had the pleasure of accompanying three of our amazing students: Tia and Renad from Year 12, and Turkan from Year 10, to Houston, Texas, to take part in the NAE UNICEF summit. We were thrilled to be hosted by one of our Nord Anglia schools, The Village School in Houston, the first Child-Friendly City in the US recognised by UNICEF. The Village School is a boarding school, so the students got to experience what life was like as a boarding student there for the week.
