On Thursday morning, the Year 1 team invited parents into school to attend a Mathematics workshop.
We introduced parents to the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach that we use to teach Maths at BIS Abu Dhabi, allowing parents to get a better insight into the types of activities their children use in Maths lessons at school and how children progress and deepen their understanding of Mathematical concepts using the CPA approach. Parents left the workshop with some ideas for practical activities and concrete apparatus that they could use to help support their children at home.
