After receiving his results, Aniruddh said “I felt a deep sense of relief and astonishment at the same time as I wasn’t expecting it at all. I remember that I reached a point where I was hoping to just pass the IB after the physics exam, so you can imagine how relieved I felt when I finally received my results.”
Aniruddh leaves BIS Abu Dhabi and heads to The University of California San Diego (UCSD) to pursue his academic journey, where he will be studying Computer Science.
When asked why he chose his university destination, he responded, “I chose to study in San Diego because I am keen to expand my intellectual horizons under the tutelage of UCSD’s laureate-littered Computer Science faculty, although the rigorous academia and renowned research facilities don’t hurt either”. A large part of San Diego’s lifestyle is based on Mexican and Spanish culture, which Aniruddh is looking forward to experiencing after learning so much about it during his Spanish Ab Initio lessons.
When asked if he felt the IB Diploma Programme helped him get into his dream University, Aniruddh commented: “Most of the elite universities worldwide value academic rigor and the IB Diploma most certainly does not fall short in that category. This, along with the other valuable skills like time management that the IB Diploma taught me has not only helped me in securing my admission, but also will be essential during my time at university.”
Apart from academics, Aniruddh has been a valued member of BIS Abu Dhabi for 4 years and was the captain of the school’s Golf Team. Additionally, he was a member of the Game Development CCA, co-founded the BIS Abu Dhabi Charity Games and the Physics podcast series for GCSE students.
When asked what he will miss most from his time at BIS Abu Dhabi, Aniruddh stated, “I will certainly miss spending time with my friends at BIS Abu Dhabi. Especially our lunchtime ‘match of the day’ conversations and analysis of football games. The cheese toastees also deserve an honorable mention as they were always successful in satiating my vegetarian diet”
Aniruddh is looking to complete an MBA after his time at UCSD and we are sure he will go on to do remarkable things. Congratulations, Aniruddh!
