My name is Shinawar Ahmad Toor and I am a graduate Civil Engineer from Abu Dhabi University. I studied for over 7 years to complete my Undergraduate Degree, so the moment I received my certificate was an emotional one for me.
After completing my studies, I searched for work everywhere and I found placement at BIS Abu Dhabi. At first, I was sceptical about joining the teaching industry, but after my first week here it felt like I had been here for a very long time. Every system around me was extremely streamlined. The staff was very welcoming, and the students were a delight to work with. All my doubts and fears just vanished.
I'm very grateful to the Inclusion team at BIS Abu Dhabi for accepting me and making me feel comfortable at my workplace. I felt so connected to my team members, I even showed up to BIS Abu Dhabi in my graduation regalia to take photos with them.
Earlier in June, a group of our IB students jetted off to Iceland for an unforgettable adventure. Damian Toader from 12A shares his experience of this incredible trip, capturing the essence of Iceland's breathtaking landscapes and unique natural phenomena through his lens as the group's photographer.
Last week, Mrs. Stanier, our Head of Humanities, had the pleasure of accompanying three of our amazing students: Tia and Renad from Year 12, and Turkan from Year 10, to Houston, Texas, to take part in the NAE UNICEF summit. We were thrilled to be hosted by one of our Nord Anglia schools, The Village School in Houston, the first Child-Friendly City in the US recognised by UNICEF. The Village School is a boarding school, so the students got to experience what life was like as a boarding student there for the week.
