Name and a little bit about you:
Hi! I’m Jay Ann and I’m the smiling face you see at the front desk daily. I have been with BIS Abu Dhabi since 2015, and I am the Senior Receptionist here.

Where is “home” for you?
I am from the beautiful Philippines.

What do you do in Abu Dhabi?
Alongside work, I love spending time with my 3 kids - Nhea, Borj, Raiah Jayne, and my husband Ryan. I also enjoy doing sports and dancing.

What brought your family to Abu Dhabi?
The opportunities the city has on offer, the culture, and the year-round sunshine!

Tell us something that few people know about you:
I’m a proud member of a non-profit all Filipino group that specialises in cultural singing and dance performances all over Abu Dhabi. It is actually within this group I met my partner Ryan, who shares my passion of dancing. I also love getting involved in sport activities, I especially like Dragon Boating in which I have also joined competitions in the UAE.

What is your favourite thing about being a part of the BIS Abu Dhabi community?
I have been a part of this community for 7 years and it is incredibly welcoming, everyone is so helpful and supportive.

What tips of advice would you give to new families joining BIS Abu Dhabi?
Get involved in the Parent Coffee mornings and all other community events that take place, join the BIS Abu Dhabi related Facebook groups - it will all give you the chance to connect with other parents.

Anything else you would like to share?
Life is short, do whatever that scares you with a SMILE and everything else will follow.

BIS Abu Dhabi World Scholars go to Baku!

From the 10th – 16th June, our team of World Scholars attended the Baku Global Round, after successfully qualifying at our in-school round back in April. Our Scholars ranged from Year 6 to Year 10 and competed in teams of three with the hope of qualifying for the next stage.

Empowering Youth: Our Journey to the NAE UNICEF Summit in Houston

Last week, Mrs. Stanier, our Head of Humanities, had the pleasure of accompanying three of our amazing students: Tia and Renad from Year 12, and Turkan from Year 10, to Houston, Texas, to take part in the NAE UNICEF summit. We were thrilled to be hosted by one of our Nord Anglia schools, The Village School in Houston, the first Child-Friendly City in the US recognised by UNICEF. The Village School is a boarding school, so the students got to experience what life was like as a boarding student there for the week.
