This year, the event was held live from Vietnam, and students from Years 7-12 were able to join and take part online. Students were researching, debating and negotiating across 4 different committees and a variety of topics including tackling child related gang violence, protection of cultural heritage in conflict zones, and militarisation of outer space.
The event was a resounding success and all of our students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Of note were Sara from Year 12, who stepped in and acted as a student officer for the UNESCO committee and Jieun from Year 12, who was awarded the ‘Best Delegate’ award for her outstanding contribution to the HRC committee. We are very proud of all of the students that took part and cannot wait for the next MUN event where we can continue to build on these brilliant skills!
Students involved included Alan from Year 7, Maryam, Anoushey and Arya from Year 10, Aisyah and Muhammad from Year 11, and Mahra, Hamda, Sara, Inshirah, Samu, Jieun and Asher from Year 12.
Last week, Mrs. Stanier, our Head of Humanities, had the pleasure of accompanying three of our amazing students: Tia and Renad from Year 12, and Turkan from Year 10, to Houston, Texas, to take part in the NAE UNICEF summit. We were thrilled to be hosted by one of our Nord Anglia schools, The Village School in Houston, the first Child-Friendly City in the US recognised by UNICEF. The Village School is a boarding school, so the students got to experience what life was like as a boarding student there for the week.
