Each week we will feature a member of staff across all areas of the school including teachers, admin staff, support staff and more, to get to know members of our school family a little better. Our profile this week is Fe Padernos, Systems and Data Officer:
I was born and raised by a small family in my birthplace in Cavite, Philippines. My mother and father haven’t been together ever since I was in my mother’s womb so with that being said, it has been a challenge for my mum to raise me alone; big gratitude to my uncle, I was able to finish school and graduate college to work for a local Electronics Company as a Technician. As time went by, I was promoted from a Junior Test Engineer to a full-time Test Software and Hardware Engineer.
Year 2009 – touchdown to Abu Dhabi with the help of my loving husband who arrived here earlier than me. After 2 weeks of job hunting, I was given the opportunity to work as an Auto-cad and Revit Designer at a construction company. Due to recession, I unfortunately was working without any salary for about 6 months so I decided to look for another job. It was then that new doors were opened for another opportunity – I started working for Nord Anglia in November 2009 as a School Support Office/Purchasing Officer.
In 2011, another hurdle was unexpected; my son was diagnosed with Dengue and was fighting with a 50-50 chance to live. Fortunately, everything fell down into place so my husband and I decided to have our kids stay with us here in Abu Dhabi.
Year 2012 has been a blessed year; the PPP projects were finally through, and I was placed in the CPD Department as a Senior Admin.
In 2015, the contract with Nord Anglia came to an end so I relocated to BIS Abu Dhabi as IT Support and am now a Systems and Data Officer. It is my goal to be of help to my co-workers regarding iSAMS, or any other computer-related problems (Word/Excel/Paint/Publisher) that are/may be their everyday encounters. My work also includes creating a template for school reports, provides data and other request that may arise from time to time. There may be a fine line between what I’m achieving here in Abu Dhabi and in the Philippines, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to be as dedicated, as perseverant, as hardworking, and as steadfast as I was before.
I wholeheartedly and sincerely do the job that has been bestowed upon me with all my compassion for my profession. With that being said, I am giving my heartfelt gratitude to Nord Anglia, and more importantly to BIS Abu Dhabi, for opening doors and for letting me grasp the opportunity to work for this company.
