As part of the FS1 first term focus on Incy Wincy Spider and Wheels on the Bus, FS1 celebrated with a whole year group ‘Nursery Rhyme Day!’
Children amazed everyone with their costumes and creations, from Little Bo Peep, to Little Boy Blue; virtually every Nursery Rhyme was represented by our little stars!
Children enjoyed being the Grand Old Duke of York, marching through paint to make footprints. Some children balanced eggs on spoons to race their little Humpty Dumpties, while others planted their very own seeds to re-enact Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary.
Some children used hula hoops to make clocks for Hickory Dickory Dock and other children enjoyed singing ‘I’m a little teapot’ whilst having a tea party together. These were just some of the activities on offer in the outdoor area and children from all classes were free to join in with any activities.
Of course there was lots of Nursery Rhyme singing throughout the day and children thoroughly enjoyed showing off their costumes, which was a great boost to their self-esteem.
A great day was had by all!

In 2014, Mrs. Lowe arrived to teach at the British International School Abu Dhabi, excited to work with the Physical Education Department (PE) to implement and embed Dance within both the curriculum and the CCA programme. Schemes of work were created for FS1 to Year 9 and all PE teachers received professional development training to understand the fundamentals of Dance, to discover the importance of Dance, and how movement can be creative and powerful.
