The Village School's, Kaila D. and Keagan T., along with 31 other area children and teens, have been cast and will represent Wildfish Theatre Company at the Junior Theatre Festival in Sacramento, CA February 9-13, 2017. The Junior Theatre Festival is produced by iTheatrics, Disney and Music Theatre International. It is the biggest festival dedicated to young people and musical theatre.
"We are very proud of our 32 young performers participating in JTF who are representing their families, schools, and homes," said a spokesperson for Wildfish Theatre.
The Junior Theater Festival brings people together from all aspects of theatre, ranging from students and teachers to Broadway professionals, all under one roof to celebrate outstanding student musical theatre productions. This year, Pacek & Paul, the Oscar nominated songwriters of the musical movie La La Land, will be headlining the festival.
Each group performs a selection from a Broadway Junior or Kids Collection musical for professional adjudication by a distinguished panel of international theatre professionals.
Good luck Vikings!
During the summer time, vacations, pools, and fun are certainly on children’s minds. However, it’s also important to incorporate learning into their day. Summer learning loss, also known as the "summer slide," refers to the decline in academic and social skills that can occur when children are not engaged in educational activities during the summer months. Dana Sheridan, LPC, Lower School Counselor at The Village School, sheds light on this issue and offers practical solutions for parents to keep their children's minds active during the long summer break.
