On Saturday, October 13th, the VMS Speech and Debate Team competed at the Katy Taylor Speech and Debate Tournament. The Village School took 1st place overall at the competition.
Saturday, September 22nd, the VMS Speech and Debate Team competed at the Klein High School Jr High Tournament. They placed second overall in the small school sweepstakes competition with many finalists and winners in multiple events
Two middle school students placed in the National Speech and Debate Association tournament June 23, 2018. Aditi R. took second place for informative speaking and Kahani M. took fourth place for declamation and sixth place in Oratory speaking.
Two Village School students were honored at Carnegie Hall in New York for their Gold Scholastic Medal Recognition. Congratulations to Esha G. and Shashi P. for their incredible performances academically and great achievement.
The Village School BioQuattuor team won first place in the national Thomas Edison Pitch Contest against more than 50 middle school teams. They presented their sweat-powered insulin nanobot prototype to the panel of judges May 17 via a video conference and have been awarded a 3D printer for the school as well as individual gift cards.
The middle school Speech and Debate Team competed at the St. Thomas HS Speech and Debate Tournament on Saturday, April 28th. The Village School had 20 finalists and 32 semi-finalists. Competing in the large school division, the Village School placed 4th overall.
Eighth grade language arts students honored victims of the Holocaust in a STEAM project unlike any other. Students selected items that reflected the memories and lives of those lost and began a crystallization process to preserve and transform them using Borax and water. Students then worked to curate the exhibit and write memoirs from the point of the view of their selected items.
