The Performing Arts Festival program is designed to enable your child to thrive in an immersive atmosphere of performing arts, creativity, and teamwork. Young Artist Pathways guided by guest artists, will develop your child’s creativity, collaboration, confidence, and artistry in one of the following pathways.
Dance
Your child will expand their creativity through an exploration of choreography, improvisation, and performance. Festival dancers will develop techniques and explore new dance forms – including jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and more.
Musical Theatre
Dive into the world of musical theatre, where participants will explore Broadway Musicals using the essential elements of singing, dancing, and acting.
Pop/Jazz Ensemble
Pop/Jazz Ensemble provides an alternative pathway for instrumentalists interested in performing in a more contemporary style, whilst also exploring a wide range of performance skills needed by popular and jazz musicians.
This pathway is suitable for the following instruments:
- Vocalists – all voice types
- Woodwind – Soprano Saxophone, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone
- Brass – Trumpet, Trombone
- Strings – Guitar, Bass Guitar
- Piano/Keyboard
- Drumkit and Percussion – please note percussionists may be asked to play on a range of auxiliary percussion alongside the drumkit
Acting
Participants will enjoy creative physical and vocal expression with text, ensemble acting, and a variety of fun techniques aimed to liberate their theatrical imagination. By working and playing in groups, students will bring stories and characters to life through drama.
Festival Orchestra
As part of the festival orchestra, your child will rehearse and perform a range of pieces, developing ensemble skills as well as experiencing the thrill of performing in a large-scale ensemble!
This pathway is suitable for the following instruments:
- Strings – Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
- Wind – Flute/Piccolo, Oboe/Cor Anglais, Clarinet, Bassoon
- Brass – Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, French Horn
- Percussion – please note, that percussionists may be asked to perform a range of percussion instruments ranging from Timpani and mallet percussion to auxiliary percussion (dependent on repertoire choices) Piano
Festival Choir
The Festival choir encourages singers of all ages and abilities to experience the thrill of singing with others, whilst also exploring a range of diverse repertoire.
