Ross Clarke

Head of Primary Arts, Juilliard Coordinator, House Coordinator, Music Teacher
Ross Clarke

I have been in Phnom Penh (and at Northbridge) for over three years. I play the trumpet, piano, accordion, bass guitar and am a composer. I am quite involved in the city with the orchestras and music scene, which I love to get students involved with too.

As a performer I played as co-principal trumpet at the Astana Opera House, Astana, Kazakhstan for six years as well as other ensembles across the UK, Germany, Poland, Cambodia and Kazakhstan. I was Director of Music in Haileybury Astana, Kazakhstan and also taught at the British School in Warsaw, Poland. Strengthening the Juilliard relationship and introducing the Instrumental Music Programme as well as forming the NISC Middle School Choir have been some of my recent projects at Northbridge. My passion is getting everyone involved and realising potential in all children. Music is sometimes side-lined as a subject, but my job is to prove how great it is, by getting children playing, reading, writing and singing. Minimum promise to all my students - you will not embarrass yourself in karaoke!

Qualifications: Bachelor's in Music (hons) - Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London; Post Graduate Certificate in Education - University of Nottingham; Diploma in the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of Music.
