The NPQSL (UK) course is a highly respected program tailored to prepare seasoned educators for senior leadership positions in schools. Over about 18 months, participants engage in a comprehensive curriculum covering essential leadership areas, including school management, strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance evaluation.
Through a blend of theoretical learning, practical application, and reflective practice, participants acquire the knowledge, skills, and perspective needed to lead effectively and facilitate school improvement.
As an Athletic Director the following areas were improved for me personally, whilst undertaking the course:
1. Leadership Skills: Supporting our colleagues and students.
2. Strategic Planning: To develop long-term plans for the athletic program, set objectives, and ensure alignment with the school's overall goals.
3. Performance Evaluation: To assess the performance of coaches, athletes, and the overall athletic program, identify areas for growth, and implement strategies to enhance performance.
4. Collaboration and Team Building: We can leverage these skills to foster a positive team culture within the athletic program, promote collaboration among staff and athletes, and cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment.
5. Change Management: We can apply these change management skills to implement new initiatives, adapt to evolving circumstances, and drive continuous improvement within the athletic program.
I express my gratitude to Northbridge for their unwavering support throughout my NPQSL journey. Their guidance and resources have played a crucial role in helping me navigate the course and achieve this milestone. Head of Secondary Ms Sarah and Principal Ms Frances supported me for by allowing time to complete the many course assignments.
Nord Anglia Education, of which Northbridge is part, allows opportunities for their entire staff to develop professionally. Their comprehensive APT system allows individuals to plan with their supervisor short, medium, and long-term objectives in their professional development. This is for all roles at the school.
I look forward to continuing to learn and develop in my role as Athletic Director and contributing to the success of our school community.
