Create Your Future!
The networking skills of our grade 9 students were on full display as they pitched their ideas and interacted with guests.
Over the course of the year, the students have worked individually or in teams to either identify business opportunities in their chosen industry, engage in community-based projects or develop a marketable skill based on a personal interest.
The initial step in this process was for students to develop an understanding of the marketplace. Through a combination of primary and secondary research, they deepened their knowledge of their market, both broadly in terms of industry trends and more narrowly in terms of the behaviour and needs of individual market participants.
With an understanding of the marketplace, students then sought to develop solutions in response to needs identified, with some of the most compelling ones being recognised with awards presented at the networking event:
Strength of Concept Award: Tabi Café
Inclusion Award: Paint4Learn
Social Benefit Award: Blood Donation Project
Innovation Award: Bookey
Technical Skill Award: Classique
Branding Award: Sugarlicious
Creativity Award: Running Fish
Looking ahead to next year in the Startup Studio, students will have the opportunity to continue developing their existing startup ideas or form new teams, collaborating on innovative solutions to solve real problems.
Are you a believer… or a non-believer?
Some people start by subtracting: 230 minus 220 to get 10. Then, 10 multiplied by 0.5 equals 5. Believer status confirmed.
As we approach a key milestone in the academic journey of our Grade 10 students, I am pleased to share the significant strides we have made in streamlining the transition process to Grade 11 and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).
As the Personal Project Coordinator, one of the most rewarding aspects of my role is observing how the Personal Project allows students to develop essential skills that will benefit them long after they leave school.
With the UK university application deadline now behind us, there’s a palpable sense of excitement—along with a sense of relief on my part! Thirty of our students successfully submitted their applications, each able to choose five different universities on the UCAS application.
