Congratulation to the Northbridge International School Cambodia Grade 12 Visual Arts students who opened their end-of-program exhibition on the 9th of March.
This exhibition was developed by making, investigating, critically analysing, and appreciating differing art forms. Each collection has a coherent thread expressing a variety of topics and is a credit to the students' hard work and dedication.
The exhibition is only 40% of the coursework the students need to complete as part of the program. Over the past 18 months, these talented artists produced this exhibition and documented their experiments, developed new skills, and critically and conceptually investigated artists.
This exhibition was also enjoyed by the whole school community, who were considerate as they walked around and enjoyed learning more about our Grade 12 Visual Arts students. Well done and thank you to all those involved.
The Visual Arts permeate all facets of human creation, expression, communication, and knowledge and is essential to daily life. The arts give us the tools to explore our reality and what it is to be human. The arts also give us the chance to share our experiences, understandings, and passion with others.
As a result, the arts help shape our personal and societal identities while offering chances for intercultural discourse and exchange.
World Children's Day (WCD) is celebrated on November 20 each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare.
The readers of this article have all likely experienced a ‘traditional’ exam setting. Rows of desks, pen and paper, and exam papers that are primarily constructed to test knowledge and recall of the course content. There is certainly some value to an exam paper that assesses a student’s knowledge, but ultimately, knowledge and recall represents a very narrow range of the skills actually needed in the modern world. Recognising this, the IB has taken an revolutionary look at assessment in the middle years, with the eAssessment.
