Create Your Future!
Northbridge International School Cambodia is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Angela Botero as the new Deputy Head of Primary and PYP Coordinator from August 2021.
Ms Angela is replacing Ms Bissy Groom, who is returning to New Zealand with her family after six years of valued service to Northbridge. We wish her every success in the future.
Born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, Angela was educated at Marymount school until the age of 18. After graduating she initially studied law, then after three years she decided to switch to literature at Pontifica Universidad Javeriana, where her passion for Latin American and global literature grew and her interest for education was triggered.
Angela completed her post graduate studies as an Educational Psychologist and has a Master’s degree in Managerial skills. She then started her journey as a primary teacher in 1985, and was appointed as Head of Primary after teaching for 10 years.
In 2001, Angela moved to India with her family where her husband worked at Mahindra United World College, an IB Diploma school. During her stay in India (where her son was born) her interest and passion for the IB started, and she returned to Bogota to work as a PYP coordinator, and later Head of Preschool and Head of Primary.
In 2008 Angela was trained by the IB as an IB PYP educator and she is currently a workshop leader, site visitor, consultant and on-line workshop leader. Her eldest, María, is an MYP teacher while her other child, Camilo, is studying linguistics. Angela’s husband is a university professor and film maker.
Angela and her family are very excited about moving to Cambodia and being part of the Northbridge community.
With the UK university application deadline now behind us, there’s a palpable sense of excitement—along with a sense of relief on my part! Thirty of our students successfully submitted their applications, each able to choose five different universities on the UCAS application.

This year, the World Health Organisation (WHO) is uniting with partners to highlight the vital connection between mental health and work.
The readers of this article have all likely experienced a ‘traditional’ exam setting. Rows of desks, pen and paper, and exam papers that are primarily constructed to test knowledge and recall of the course content. There is certainly some value to an exam paper that assesses a student’s knowledge, but ultimately, knowledge and recall represents a very narrow range of the skills actually needed in the modern world. Recognising this, the IB has taken an revolutionary look at assessment in the middle years, with the eAssessment.
