Northbridge Grade 10 students are definitely excited about their MYP Personal Project The personal project at Northbridge International School Cambodia is a culminating Middle Years Programme (MYP) project to develop individual Grade 10 students personal interests and to show and apply the skills, which are developed through the MYP’s Approaches to Learning.

The personal project at Northbridge International School Cambodia is a culminating Middle Years Programme (MYP) project to develop individual Grade 10 students personal interests and to show and apply the skills, which are developed through the MYP’s Approaches to Learning. 

This project is a year-long project based on the student’s interests and talents, resulting in a product or outcome. The personal project has a principled action, which means the students make choices that extend beyond their MYP learning.

Principled actions include:

• Developing an area of personal interest beyond the subject groups

• Sharing new information and understanding with teachers, friends & family

• Changing the students’ behaviours in response to their learning and realising they can make a difference through the decisions they make and the things they do

• The process of reflection in which students reflect regularly and record what they learned and how this has impacted their attitudes, behaviours, questions, actions and decisions

Dalen’s Project Dreams (music production and EDM)

I want to learn about the elements in producing good music. I want to create five music pieces that are linked to EDM (electronic dance music). I will also make a tutorial video on my understanding of music production.

I am very devoted and interested in making music because I really appreciate the components of EDM music. It’s one of my favorite interests. Something that will be challenging is learning how to produce music.

I am excited about learning how to use music producing platforms. Music is not only a sound, it reflects who you are as a person as well as expresses the producer’s emotion.

Kongminh’s Project Dreams (photography’s ability to build an appreciation of Cambodia’s rural and urban beauty)

I plan to create a leaflet filled with my magnificent photos captured on my own with some catchy little paragraphs that totally bring peoples attention to the beauty of Cambodia. I like photography and through it I am able to express my feelings.

In the past few years I've only tried taking pictures with my phone and not a proper camera. I think that choosing words to make people deeply understand the point of my perspective or my feelings through the pictures I predict will be a good learning experience for me. So instead of doing something really basic, I want to extend my knowledge and do more research on this topic and hope that I could get really good at this.

I think my time-management will be challenged and I might need to rethink the travelling I want to do as part of my project. I'm really excited to get to visit a lot of places and learn how to describe things in detail with good photography skills and words arrangement.

Poryi’s Project Dreams (saving valuable belongings from fire)

I plan to create a safety box that keeps valuable belongings safe from fire. It must be fully automated, and it must protect the things inside from fire.

Fire is a big problem in Cambodia, so I want to find a solution. It also connects to my interest in designing an engineering related product. I will need to work with materials that I never worked with, and I will have to code which is something new to me. I'm excited to see it work the way I plan it to be. It would be so cool if it works.
