Leading international schools organisation Nord Anglia Education today announced that their first cohort of performing arts teachers have successfully completed the Juilliard K–12 Accomplished Teacher Programme 2023/24.

The Juilliard-Nord Anglia collaboration has been in operation since 2015, providing an innovative performing arts education curriculum for Nord Anglia students in grades K–12. The programme is designed to educate all students—those with career aspirations both in and beyond the arts.

The K-12 Accomplished Teacher Programme was designed to enhance the integration of performing arts in education. Juilliard Specialists identified key areas of focus for Nord Anglia performing arts teachers and worked together to set a new benchmark for arts education globally.

Throughout the pilot year, teachers were evaluated on three critical criteria:

  1. Proficiency in The Juilliard School’s approach to K–12 classroom instruction: teachers demonstrated an understanding of Juilliard’s values in classroom instruction and reflected on their teaching practices to continuously improve.
  2. Integration of Juilliard Creative Classroom resources: participants thoughtfully incorporated these resources into their curriculum, enriching student learning.
  3. Ambassadorship: teachers served as ambassadors for the Juilliard-Nord Anglia collaboration, promoting the programme and its benefits within their educational communities.

Dr Elise Ecoff, Chief Education Officer at Nord Anglia Education, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our teachers who have completed this rigorous programme. Their commitment to mastering Juilliard’s approaches to learning and bringing it into their classrooms will have a lasting impact on our students.”

Nicholas Mahmat, Senior Drama Curriculum Specialist at The Juilliard School and lead for the programme, added: “This professional development provision has shown the profound educational impact that strong collaborations and support for performing arts educators can have. We look forward to continuing this journey with Nord Anglia as we welcome a new cohort of passionate teachers.”
