“One of the main benefits of joining an NAE school, whether you’re a student, parent or teacher, is that you’re joining a global community and will therefore benefit from the collective innovation and knowledge within it. Nord Anglia Education (NAE) students once again achieved exceptional academic results this summer, significantly exceeding global averages in a range of renowned qualifications including I/GCSEs and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). This is the sixth year in a row that has seen continuing improvements in our already outstanding results. How do we do this?

The results are testament to the hard work and commitment of our students and staff, who are supported through the work of our dedicated Education Team to bring our Be Ambitious philosophy to life and provide an outstanding academic experience for every child.

Unique to NAE, our education team comprises senior experts in K-12 education with extensive experience in innovation and school improvement, spanning national and international curricula over many years. The team are based in Oxford, UK - a city renowned for its contributions to advancing the field of education. The purpose of our team is no different. They sit at the heart of our group of schools, harnessing innovation, sharing best practice and providing support and guidance to ensure the highest quality teaching and learning in every school.

Led by Education Director, Andy Puttock, the team has deep experience and knowledge of international education thanks to their backgrounds in teaching, school leadership, and curriculum and policy development and implementation. Additionally, the team specialises in areas such as digital learning and outdoor education.

The Education team work in partnership with our schools to think beyond traditional education to transform learning. They harness the innovation and talent within our schools and support them to ensure that their offer is at the forefront of K-12 education.

A key way they do this is by driving best practice sharing amongst our 7,000+ teachers globally so that our students benefit from the expertise of 56 schools worldwide.

“One of the main benefits of joining an NAE school, whether you’re a student, parent or teacher, is that you’re joining a global community and will therefore benefit from the collective innovation and knowledge within it. The Education Team play a key role in bringing international best practice to every school,” said Mr Puttock.

Our Education Team support our schools in three core areas:

  • Curricula and programmes. Our team leads the development and implementation of our core global programmes for students, including our Global Campus and collaborations with The Juilliard School, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), to create one of a kind opportunities for your child.

“We believe it’s vital to educate your child for the future and so we collaborate with some of the world’s leading organisations to create exceptional learning experiences that will challenge and inspire your child. Your child will develop the skills and mindset to not only achieve fantastic academic results, but to also thrive in their future careers,” said Mark Orrow-Whiting, Director of Curriculum and Student Performance.

  • Professional Development for teachers. We have some of the finest teachers in the world. Our team leads Nord Anglia University (NAU), an online platform for teachers and staff to share and learn best practice, offering our staff extensive leadership and professional development opportunities informed by the latest thinking in teaching and learning.

“Nord Anglia schools are known for the quality of their teachers and staff. These people have a lasting impact on your child and so we’re proud to invest in their development. We support and inspire our teachers to advance their knowledge and skills, learning from some of the industry’s finest minds and each other, so that they deliver exceptional learning experiences for our students every day,” said Inderjit Dehal, Director of Professional Development.

  • Quality Assurance. Our schools follow a rigorous, group-wide framework which drives continuous improvement. Working with their dedicated linked advisor in the education team, our schools identify strengths and opportunities to improve, implementing targeted action plans to enhance specific areas to ensure that our educational offer is second to none.

“Everyone in Nord Anglia Education and our schools believe that there is always room for improvement. The Education Team work hand-in-hand with our schools to offer new perspectives, to support their continuous development, and encourage them to set new standards in educational practice. Parents can be confident that their child’s school consistently offers an outstanding education,” said Jayne Bennion, Director of Quality.

Our academic results are testament to this approach. This year, we’re celebrating our best ever academic results which include a 94 per cent pass rate for the IBDP and 50 per cent of students scoring A* or A grades at I/GCSE. Our students’ results at Advanced Placement, Baccalauréat Français and A-Level, have also significantly improved and are equally impressive.

“The Education team is proud to work in partnership with our schools to deliver world class teaching and learning for every child. Together, we will continue to Be Ambitious for our students, driving academic excellence so that there is no limit to what they can achieve,” said Mr Puttock.
