NAISNY’s Outstanding 2023/24 MAP Testing Results

How well are our students performing?
At NAISNY, we measure students’ learning throughout the year using various assessment tools. One such tool is the national MAP testing.

What is MAP testing?

The NWEA Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) testing is a standardised assessment taken by students across an array of schools, including private and charter institutions. It provides an objective measure of students' proficiency and growth in math, reading, language, and science.

How well are NAISNY students performing?

The short answer: very well indeed – as evident in the strong results achieved by students at NAISNY from Years 1 through 9 (US Kindergarten through 8th Grade) in the 2023/24 MAP testing. In math, our personalized approach to learning, involving meeting each student at their individual level, has enabled NAISNY students to excel. Over 82% scored higher than the national average, and close to half of our students were above the 80th percentile. This is very impressive.

We are equally proud of our students’ achievements in English. More than 91% of NAISNY students scored higher than the national average in English language, with the median score in the 81st percentile, and 50% of students come in between the 80th and 100th percentiles. In reading, 76% of our students scored above the national average, with a median score at the 83rd percentile and 52% scoring between the 80th and 100thpercentile. These results are particularly impressive as we are an international school where some students are not native English speakers. Our strategy of providing frequent and constructive feedback has effectively supported students to advance their language skills, grammar, and writing mechanics.

In General Science, 78% surpassed the national average, with a median score in the 84th percentile and 56% scoring between the 80th and 100th percentile. Our upper school students have achieved these strong results thanks to the dedicated efforts of teachers, such as Mr. Reardon, who encourage students to engage in hands-on experiments and collaborative projects. MIT challenges have further fostered resilience and creative thinking.

The outstanding MAP testing results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our exceptional students and dedicated teaching staff. We look forward to welcoming back students on September 3rd and continuing the trajectory towards excellence in the forthcoming academic year.
