Our Early Years students enjoy an immersive and engaging education through world-class teaching, no matter where they are. Even if their campus has to temporarily close, our virtual school experience means their learning won’t be interrupted.
Virtual learning doesn’t mean your child needs to be sat in front of a computer all day long. Our blended learning approach is a combination of direct time with their teachers and offline activities — away from a screen — so they stay active, engage with hands-on activities, and learn important development skills through creative play.
All of the learning, no matter if it’s online or offline, is designed by their teachers to prepare them for their next stage and takes into account their individual starting points, what they need to achieve and best practice about how young children learn. These online and offline experiences strive to create the right balance between teacher-directed, personalised practice and exploratory and play-based learning.
We also understand the importance of making sure every child has the resources they need to take part in virtual school activities at home. We provide physical learning tools, such as activity boxes, for younger children to help them stay inspired and have fun.
At the British School of Beijing, Sanlitun, for example, our Early Years children were sent a kit full of all the things they needed to grow their own plants at home, with extra activities in the pack to get them thinking about planting and growing seeds.
Our youngest students at the British International School Bratislava also loved their new “curiosity bags,” which were full of materials to allow them to get creative.
Your child’s teachers will be with them every step of the way. We want their virtual learning to give them the familiarity of the school day through as much real-time teaching as possible. This is because we know young children benefit the most from face-to-face time with their teachers.
We also know how important it is to provide stability for your child, allowing them to continue to experience the routine of attending school with its many teacher and peer relationships. Our teachers are there to maintain the warm, neighbourly, community feel of being in school. They also understand your child’s development needs and how they learn best. And just as they do in person, you will receive regular updates from them on your child’s progress and achievements.

All the schools in our global family continue to provide virtual schooling in some capacity, and your child’s teachers have access to thousands of shared resources which have been created by their peers, and curated and quality assured by our dedicated Education Team. In this way, your child benefits from the shared creativity and expertise of Nord Anglia’s 9,000 teaching colleagues worldwide.
Every Nord Anglia teacher can instantly collaborate, share best practice, and use their collective insight to develop new ways to improve how your child learns or how to best transition between online and on-campus teaching. This relationship also means their teachers will be there even if your child needs to transfer from a physical school environment to a virtual one, or vice versa depending on the latest government regulations.
Blended learning means we can inspire intellectual curiosity while nurturing wellbeing, so your family stays safe and has the flexibility needed for your child to succeed. Our virtual school experience is delivered via a safe and secure online platform, with teachers on hand to help you stay connected and other support available should you need it.
Even if your child is transitioning in and out of virtual school, there is no need to worry about whether your child will be on track. No matter where your child is learning from, we ensure that the content of their education is uninterrupted. They will continue to cover their curriculum, designed by our education experts, and their learning will still encompass every important key stage development.
We understand that virtual schooling presents unique challenges for your child, but in overcoming these obstacles and learning in new ways, the experience of virtual schooling has accelerated the development of important skills such as resilience, creativity and collaboration. So, in addition to their academic success, your child continues to make important progress personally and socially.
Our VSE is constantly evolving, based on cutting-edge education practices, our Quality Assurance framework, and regular feedback from parents. Did you know that more than 90% of NAE parents said they are satisfied or very satisfied with virtual school so far?
It’s always great to see our Early Years students’ love for learning and the enthusiasm they bring to all the activities and tasks they are set, and we are really looking forward to seeing what our creative young minds achieve next.
