Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a great the Mid-Autumn Festival, we thoroughly enjoyed celebrating during assembly led by the Chinese Department. It was wonderful to have so many students showcase their talents and share their appreciation for Chinese culture!
We have so many talented students at NAISHK. Congratulations to Jenny W. of 7A, who, during the summer, competed in the Dance World Cup held in Prague, Czech Republic. Jenny and her team (Hong Kong) competed against 30-50 teams representing Europe, the US, and Canada. In an amazing result, they came 5th in the world—what a fantastic achievement! We are all extremely proud of Jenny and her team’s success.
Calligraphy 1000
On Saturday, September 14th, ten students from NAIS Hong Kong Secondary went to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to participate in the Calligraphy 1000 event hosted by the EDB. Close to 2,000 students from over 140 schools were present. Students wrote wishes and poems for the upcoming National Day on October 1st. Seventy-five winning pieces will be selected from the submissions to be displayed around Hong Kong for the 75th National Day celebration. NAIS Hong Kong students enjoyed the experience and produced high-quality work. A fantastic day was had by all!
Mid-Autumn Festival
We are thrilled to share our reflections on the recent Mid-Autumn Festival celebration at our school, which was a resounding success! This event provided an enriching experience for all students, highlighting the cultural significance of this cherished festival and fostering a sense of community and creativity.
• In-Class Activities
All students in KS3, KS4, and KS5 participated in fan-making activities, immersing themselves in the artistic traditions associated with the festival. Many year levels also engaged in crafting beautiful cards, allowing them to express their heartfelt wishes and creativity. These activities not only encouraged artistic expression, but also reinforced the themes of unity and goodwill that are central to the Mid-Autumn Festival.
• Whole School Assembly
The assembly was a highlight of our celebration, featuring a variety of engaging segments:
- History and Customs: Students gained valuable insights into the origins and enduring traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival, enhancing their understanding of its cultural significance.
- Poetry Recital: Participants showcased their appreciation for literature by sharing interpretations of traditional poems. This segment highlighted their creativity and connection to the festival's themes.
- Performances: Our talented students captivated the audience with musical performances and cultural dances, transporting everyone into the heart of the festival celebrations. Their enthusiasm and skill were truly inspiring.
- Quizzes: The interactive quizzes added an element of fun and competition, encouraging students to delve deeper into the festival's history while offering exciting prizes for participation.

IB Learner Profile/Intro to IB
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) learner profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success.
They imply a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them.
The IB Diploma programme and NAISHK are committed to the development of students according to the IB learner profile.
The profile aims to develop learners who are:
· Inquirers
· Knowledgeable
· Thinkers
· Communicators
· Principled
· Open-minded
· Caring
· Risk-takers
· Balanced
· Reflective.
A more in detail description of each of the indicators are below (IBO, 2013).
One of the ways that students in the IB Diploma demonstrate the IB Learner Profile attributes is through our Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) Programme where students carry about a range of projects and experiences across these three strands to meet the ‘7 CAS Learning Outcomes’ and develop the IB Learner Profile traits.
We look forward to our Year 12 and 13 students further developing the IB Learner Profile traits over the coming year and serving as ambassadors for our community!

Match Reports
Monday 16th September U14 Boys Football vs MCHK
A very physical game in testing conditions saw our team get a hard-earned victory 6 – 3. The more technical team won and showed that better use of the ball can overcome strength and speed.
Monday 16th September U16 Netball vs AISHK
The girls have been practicing various set plays during their training and today was the first time they got to use them in a match versus opposition. The girls were evenly matched during the first quarter finishing 1-0 to the Knights. By half time it was 6-0. In the second half AISHK came back with some of their own plays which caught our team off guard. But with some clever use of our attacking back line set plays we increased our score consistently, finishing the match 13-4 to NAISHK. Go Knights!
Tuesday 17th September U14 Girls Volleyball
The U14 Girls Volleyball team had an exciting day, facing off against CAIS and AIS, where they showcased remarkable skills with impressive jumping, overhead, and underarm serves. Their improved communication on the court played a crucial role in their dominant performance, as the team excelled in anticipating and reacting to the ball, making a wide range of passes and demonstrating excellent movement. Both matches concluded with a resounding victory for the NAIS Knights, ending 2-0 in favour of our team. Great job, Knights! Keep up the fantastic work!
