Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
I hope you and your family enjoyed the sunshine and the Dragon Boat Festival. It is a great occasion and a chance for communities and groups to come together in an enjoyable event.
In the school, the focus for staff has been on marking assessment and writing final reports. However, we can still have fun. For example, the Books and Buns charity event run by Sandringham and Caernarfon Houses jointly for “Feeding Hong Kong” and “Bring a book” was a great success, enjoyed by all.
Excitement mounts, too, as our Artist-in-Residence, Cornelia Erdmann, completes the project. The first panels of the pupils’ art work are ready and they look amazing. I am really looking forward to the final display of all 800!
Have a good weekend.
Brian Cooklin
Principal

LOOK AT OUR BEAUTIFUL ART PIECES
Our students finally get to see their art pieces this week! Now they just need to work together and learn how to create an aesthetically pleasing outcome by using skills of layout, balance and layering. We can't wait to see the final installation! Find out what they’ve been up to from our Facebook page.
WELCOME TO YEAR 4 HOGWART
Harry Potter Day for our Year 4s was just amazing. This morning, we saw our young wizards conjuring up wonderful potions and later, Slytherin, Griffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff were battling it out on the turf in a game of Quidditch. What a fantastic day for our Harry Potters! A big thanks goes to all our teachers, TLAs and parents for organising and supporting the day! Check them out here.

Finally a special mention to Sunny Li, Chloe Chan, Sophie Abrahams, Natalie Kung, Isabelle Luk, Stephanie Kwan, Abbie Yiu, Chun Fai Wat, Cayden Lock, and Calvin Te who also did well in this writing competition and received a Certificate of Recognition.
BOOKS & BUNS FUNDRAISER A HUGE SUCCESS
They came, they read, they ate cake and boy, did they raise some serious money for their respective charities! Yes, after some serious reading and cake munching, Sandringham and Caernarfon managed to raise over HK$ 20,000 for Feeding Hong Kong and Bring Me A Book!
Mr Reid and Ms Kenny would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who helped support the Books & Buns charity event yesterday. This money couldn’t have been raised without the amazingly decorated and tasting cakes and generous donations of books.

YEAR 4C MUSIC
Our Year 4 students were ‘fine tuning’ their violin skills this week (excuse the pun). While half of them were hard at work in the keyboard suite, the other half were developing their skills on this beautiful string instrument with Mr Widger.
EXPLORING THE DRAMA OF THE GREAT SPACE RACE WITH YEAR 5
Drama is such a potent source of learning as our Year 5s discovered when they added depth to their appreciation of the Space Race through working on Freeze frame tableaux in Drama this week. Collaboration, imagination and concentration were all needed to pull off these studies. Year 5 are showing a great maturity in their approach to their work, proving that they are ready to transition up to Year 6 soon.
YEAR 6 GO FULL ‘STEAM’ AHEAD
Year 6 have been tackling problem solving challenges as part of their new STEAM theme. As well as creating circuits using “Little Bits’ kits and our sets of Lego Mindstorms they have also been learning about how pulleys work and creating models using Knex as well as exploring solar power by building and testing various models.
PRIMARY ASSEMBLY – 4A Grace Halls
It’s Harry Potter Day for our 4A class Assembly this morning. All of our Year 4 students dressed in Harry Potter themed costumes and they shared their favourite characters with their peers. A big thank you to our musicians from 4A, Ben, Arianna, Brian and Warren who performed the classic Harry Potter music by using different kinds of instruments.
See what they got up to here.
SECONDARY ASSEMBLY
In the Secondary Assembly this morning, Mrs Pate presented two certificates to our students who participated in the Nord Anglia Keeping Children Safe Illustration Challenge (June 2017).
