Parent Update - 27 March 2015

Dear Parents,

A short day today after another incredibly busy week. The highlights had to be:

Please click on the links to see more photos or look at our Facebook page.

LIBRARY, MUSIC PRACTICE ROOMS, DANCE & DRAMA STUDIO OPENING!

We’re all hugely excited to be finally able to use all of these rooms and areas. Our new Teacher Librarian, Leanne Richardson, joins us over the Easter break and she has great plans to turn our Library into the heart of our school. I know the Secondary School students are also looking forward to getting into their own study area. It needs some decorating, Year 7s!

MARCH TO ATHENS – We made it! In fact we overshot and are now well past Athens and into the middle of the Atlantic ocean. An amazing effort from all our families. I’ve roughly totted up the kilometres covered by our pupils (not including teachers and adults) and the average is 24km per child. Please remember to bring in your completed forms and sponsorship money (cash or cheque is fine – payable to Nord Anglia International School HK Ltd). We’ll be celebrating this whole-school effort after Easter.

ECA UPDATE

Please look out later today for an email from Katie Byrne, our Curriculum Coordinator, about how to change or cancel ECAs.

Good luck to our GYMNASTICS TEAM who are competing tomorrow. I have just seen lovely videos from our teacher wishing our team all the best. I will try and find the video of Mr Malone, who not only gives a motivational speech, but also does so while vaulting the Box!

GOOD LUCK TO OUR HONG KONG ENTRIES TO THE NORD ANGLIA GLOBAL CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION

Our English Department has had a busy few weeks reading some excellent creative writing from our Primary and Secondary pupils. The winning entries will be going through to compete against creative writing from all our other 24 schools!.

MANDARIN UPDATE: We’re delighted to be welcoming a new Chinese Teacher to our team. We have been trying to encourage Ms Kim Lau to join us for some time, as she has an excellent reputation and more than 14 years’ experience at two international schools here in Hong Kong. Miss Li, will also be stepping up to a more permanent teaching role, having finalised her teaching accreditation. Congratulations Shirley! We are sad to be saying goodbye to Ms Bu who has to return suddenly to Guangzhou for personal reasons.

We’re looking forward to welcoming 10 new pupils after the Easter break, and we know that you’ll all make them feel very welcome.

Have a lovely break and we’ll see you all back on Monday 13 April.
