The EYFS curriculum, from the English National Curriculum, focuses on seven areas of growth that allow every day at school to be full of new, exciting activities. These areas include personal, social, and emotional development; communication and language; mathematical development; understanding the world; physical development; expressive arts and design (EAD); and literacy development.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

Spanning Years 1 to 6, Primary School sees each child become an active participant in their learning, as they increase their independence and become an inquisitive thinker. Led by highly qualified teachers on our modern Lam Tin Campus, our programme follows the English National Curriculum, designed to enrich your child’s core academic skills while exploring a variety of other subjects through stimulating experiences.

The English National Curriculum: Key Stages 1 and 2
Our students build their core skills in English and maths and study other subjects, grouped around themes: science; history; geography; art; music; design technology; personal, social, health and citizenship education (PSHCE); information and communication technologies (ICT); and physical education (PE). At Key Stage 1, we emphasise core skills in numeracy and literacy. At Key Stage 2, we focus on helping each child become independent, while taking ownership of their advancement across all subjects.

SECONDARY

Spanning Years 7 to 13, Secondary School gives our students a broad and balanced programme across a variety of subjects, as they follow their interests and carve out their passion. With strategic guidance and support from our highly experienced teachers, our programme on the state-of-the-art Kwun Tong Campus follows the English National Curriculum and stimulates our students with learning experiences that prepare them to succeed both at their first-choice university and in the world.

The English National Curriculum: Key Stage 3
At Key Stage 3, from Years 7 to 9, our Secondary students learn from specialist teachers in the subjects of English, mathematics, science, history, geography, Mandarin, Spanish, EAL, music, drama, art and design, computing, physical education, and personal, social, health and citizenship education (PSHCE). They advance their critical thinking and reasoning skills alongside their ability to communicate effectively.

14 to 16 years old
IGCSEs: Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4, from Years 10 to 11, our students drive their own learning as they choose a range of subjects to explore in greater depth. These two years revolve around preparation for the widely recognised International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), known for its high level of academic rigour worldwide. Students study English, mathematics, science, another language, and other IGCSE exams, creating combinations that support their interests and passions. Their high performances on these globally recognised qualifications are invaluable preparation for the IBDP – helping them enter their first-choice university.

The IB Diploma Programme
At Years 12 and 13, our students immerse themselves in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), a two-year rigorous programme that prepares them for the best universities in the world. They choose six in-depth courses from language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, and the arts. Weaving across their studies, they also share their passion to help others in a community through the ‘CAS’ (Creativity, Activity, Service) component; study the theory of knowledge; and write an extended essay on a research topic that fascinates them.

In the event of a severe long-term disruption to face-to-face learning, our Virtual School Experience at NAIS Hong Kong gives our students and teachers the swift adaptability to learn from home, while upholding our high academic standards.

Our safe, secure virtual platform and on-line learning provisions mean that learning can continue during longer term school closures or other difficulties which negatively impact on the normal on-site operations of the school. Our teachers are fully trained and prepared to provide instruction or asynchronous learning support virtually if required and will guide our students through a typical interactive, thought-provoking day, complemented by tailored support towards students’ individual interests and assignments.
